The House of Starseed Marrakech

Today, as I was putting the finishing touches on my shop in Marrakech (omg — MY shop in MARRAKECH!), I glanced at my phone and realised the date was 11/11. My initial reaction was pleasant surprise, and then that feeling quickly shifted to complete gratitude — for the divine (the universe, the higher power, the source — however you want to package it up!) always showing me affirmation and support.

The past few years have been a masterclass in faith — mixed with equal parts challenge and transformation. Building in Marrakech meant walking straight into the unknown, communicating through gestures, drawings, and energy. Every piece of the puzzle, every tile, every idea had to be translated twice: once into another language (even if that was simply body language), and again into physical form. From completing a large-scale project in the middle of a global pandemic to creating an entire shop from scratch, this season has been an adventure all on its own — one that still deserves the full story someday.

This whole experience has reinforced that my strength has always been in trusting the process — building from nothing and seeing beauty before it exists. I’ve been creating for as long as I can remember, always caring just as much about every aspect of the process as about how the end result makes people feel. When I was three, I asked my parents to find me a job (I was always eager to work!) and they humoured me by arranging a single day at a family friend’s greengrocer. I loved it — the people, the energy, the joy of helping. That’s really what it’s always been about: creating and serving in equal measure.

I spent the rest of my childhood helping out wherever I could, dreaming of one day having a shop of my own. In my teenage years, I absolutely loved working in bookstores (there’s an author deep within me somewhere!) — and later had the dream job of working as a shop girl at Agent Provocateur (before being promoted to head buyer) — and, well, the rest is history. But even back in those bookstore days, I was journaling and sketching ideas for my future shop: a space that sold fashion I had designed, exotic teas, artisan perfumes, jewellery (also made by me, lol), crystals, cosmetics, and beautifully curated treasures. I could see it so clearly — what it would smell like, what music would be playing, how the lighting would set the mood, even what the tea would taste like. And you know what? It’s not that far off from those dreams that were incubating over 30 years ago.

I even scribbled down (in a way that only I could understand!) bulb lights, a neon sign, and a crystal curtain — all of which the shop now has, albeit in a slightly different configuration. I always imagined it would be in London, which had my heart at the time, but life and manifestation have their own magic. Dreams often unfold with variations on how you first envision them — and having this one come true in Marrakech feels like a level up from what I ever imagined in London, even though I was dreaming big back then. I’d even forgotten about those old sketches until today, when it all came flooding back.

And here’s the strangest part (though maybe strange isn’t the right word, because I only really believe in synchronicity) — the building my shop is in was the very first place I visited on my first trip to Marrakech nearly seven years ago. It has a beautiful rooftop café called Shtatto, famous for its panoramic view over the Medina and its golden sunsets. I remember walking up those stairs, seeing all the independent designer shops, and thinking, What a dream it would be to have one of these spaces as my shop someday.

And so here we are. I’d like to introduce you to The House of Starseed — an extension of Starseed House in Marrakech (it’s just down the road, by the way!) and of The Pink House in the UK… which, really, are all extensions of the same divine gifts from the universe. Thank you!!

What began as a childhood dream has now become reality — a reminder that when you follow your heart, match the frequency of love, and settle for nothing less than alignment, the universe truly does conspire in your favour.

11/11 magic at its finest — the universe is always right on time. 💫🌸
